We are veteran policymakers with experience at the highest levels of S&T policy agenda-setting. 



Daniel Correa is Director of the Day One Project. Prior to starting Day One, Correa served as Assistant Director for Innovation Policy at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy where he led development of President Barack Obama’s 2015 innovation strategy. A 15-year veteran of the S&T policy community,  he holds law and economics degrees from Yale University.


Deputy Director

Joshua Schoop is the deputy director for the Day One Project. Dr. Schoop has worked with various public sector and international organizations developing innovation strategies, conducting mixed methods program and impact evaluations, and researching and developing innovation policy. He holds a masters and PhD in International Development from Tulane Law School.





Erin Szulman is a project advisor for the Day One Project. Erin helped shape science and technology policy, serving in a variety of roles at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Department of Energy. She is currently the Director of Performance Improvement and Internal Operations at EVgo. She holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University in Government and Science & Technology Studies.

Erik is a Project Advisor for the Day One Project and Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar. He previously served as a Policy Advisor at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and was Senior Education Program Manager at He has a Masters in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford where he studied as a Clarendon Scholar.


Senior Advisor

Dr. Ali Nouri is a senior advisor for the Day One Project. He currently serves as the President of the Federation of American Scientists.  Prior to joining FAS, Ali was the legislative director and national security advisor to U.S. Senator Al Franken (D-MN), overseeing the work of the Senator’s legislative team. Dr. Nouri holds a B.A. in Biology from Reed College and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University.
