Putting Ideas into Action
The Day One Project was created to develop actionable ideas in science and technology policy. As a new kind of think tank, our work doesn't stop after publication. We identify opportunities, engage policymakers, and partner with the Day One community to realize the vision of our proposals across government.
Based on a Day One Proposal by Nick Sinai & Chris Kuang, the General Services Administration (GSA) is launching a "Digital Corps" to bring the country’s top young technology talent to the Federal Government. Through these fellowships, the federal government will build a diverse, high-achieving, and inclusive digital workforce.
In his first Joint Address to Congress, President Biden announced plans to create an ARPA-H to "end cancer as we know it". In a Day One Proposal from January 2020, authors Michael Stebbins and Geoff Ling wrote that an ARPA-H would develop groundbreaking capabilities for disease prevention, detection, and treatment. President Biden's April 2021 budget request to Congress included $6.5 billion to kickstart the program.
