“Day One Conversations” are virtual discussions to showcase ready-for-action policy proposals. Day One proposal authors share their science and technology policy idea with a veteran policymaker and engage in a meaningful discussion about the policymaking process.
Technology Policy Accelerator Showcase
The Day One Project concluded its Technology Policy Accelerator with a showcase that featured comments on the state of U.S. federal science & technology policy from Quentin Palfrey, Acting General Counsel of the Department of Commerce, and Cori Zarek, former Deputy Chief Technology Officer.
Since March 2021, the Project worked with 30+ authors to develop 18 new, actionable tech policy ideas, making this accelerator the most ambitious, diverse cohort yet. The event highlighted five proposals from accelerator participants:
Developing a National Quantum Workforce by Dr. Elie Alhajjar
Federal Accessibility Standards for Fully Autonomous Vehicles by Paul Fink and Dr. Nicholas Giudice
Demystifying Tech Careers with Industry-Driven Transparency by Rebecca Agostino
Creating a National Research Cloud to Study Disinformation by Dr. Saiph Savage and Cristina Martinez
