Jenny Tang is a Societal Computing PhD student in Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science, and is affiliated with CyLab, the CMU Security and Privacy Institute. She holds double majors in Computer Science and Political Science from Wellesley College, and continues to pursue interdisciplinary work that combines these two fields. Jenny has multiple peer-reviewed first author academic publications in computer security and privacy and recently published with Tech Policy Press on non-English language election disinformation and its impacts on communities of color. Her research interests include examining the interplay between political science and computer science constructions of security, as well as ways to improve security and privacy for groups that are often overlooked by the academic community. She ultimately hopes to help bridge the gaps between technical and policy communities and contribute solutions to the global problems brought about by the digital paradigm.
